Injustice VR
2018
Injustice is an immersive VR experience that places players in the heart of racially motivated police brutality, where they must confront moral and ethical dilemmas in real time. Using gaze interaction and voice recognition, players interact with live-action characters, directly influencing the course of events. Injustice explores the emotional power of virtual reality to evoke empathy and challenge perspectives in a way that traditional film cannot.
This was my pitch project at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center, where I led the creative direction and storytelling as a director. During the early days of virtual reality, our task was to push the technical limitations of VR. Rather than creating a purely technical demo, we created Injustice, an interactive live-action VR experience that addressed a pressing social issue. The project challenged not only technical boundaries but also societal conversations, and it was recognized at renowned conferences such as the Tribeca Film Festival, SIGGRAPH, Games for Change, and CHI Play.
Creative Direction and Storytelling
As director, I developed the story, shaped the user's journey, and drove the overall vision for the experience, ensuring the narrative was emotionally impactful and immersive.
VR Filmmaking and Editing
I managed the VR filmmaking process, overseeing everything from live-action filming to post-production. I handled the editing of the film to ensure smooth integration with the interactive elements within the virtual reality space, creating a cohesive experience.
